First off: Hullo. New here. Very excited about this tool and looking to purchase. I have a new project that I'm early on and had a question. Apologies if it's stupid.

I'm wondering if I can expect to get any re-use out of animations I create with Spine? For example, I may have a boy who swings a baseball bat and a girl who swings a samurai sword (not my project but sounds kinda fun, eh?).

They have very different sprites for the characters and their held items. Can I use one 'animation' for this and just hook in the different art assets?

I'm trying to get a feel for how much re-use I can get or if it will be truly 1:1 LoE for every character in my game.

Another example, let's extend the situation above into now having full-sized adults: A man and a woman who hold similar items. Because they are a different size/scale, would I need none, one or two more animations to accommodate these new characters?

Thanks in advance.

This could be accomplished using skins. Check out the goblins example that comes with the spine-unity runtime. It does exactly this.
