  • Audio Only Playing in One Ear

Problem statement

Describe: 1) what you have tried, 2) what you expected, and 3) what actually happened.
I have restarted my pc and tried different versions and neither worked.

Give step-by-step instructions so we can reproduce the problem, if possible.
When I add a sound event. I get this pop up "ERROR: Audio disabled, unable to initiate OpenAL playback"
When I go to play the animation, I only hear it on the left side of my headset.

The issue you're experiencing with audio only playing in one ear and the error message "Audio disabled, unable to initiate OpenAL playback" suggests a problem with your audio setup or drivers. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Audio Device Settings: Ensure that your audio device is set to stereo output. Sometimes, audio devices can be set to mono or a different configuration, which might cause sound to play only in one ear.

  2. Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. Since Spine uses OpenAL for audio, having the latest drivers can help resolve compatibility issues.

  3. Change Audio Device: In Spine, try switching to a different audio device in the Audio view and then switch back to your preferred device. This can sometimes reset the audio configuration.

  4. Check OpenAL Installation: Ensure that OpenAL is properly installed on your system. You might need to reinstall or update OpenAL to ensure it functions correctly with Spine.

  5. Test with Different Headset: If possible, try using a different headset or audio output device to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the headset itself.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be helpful to look into the specific settings of your audio hardware or consult the documentation for your audio device.

Still having issues. I appreciate the help though.

Here is the weird thing. I loaded a different older animation with sound and it plays in both ears. I then added my old sound to my old animation and it turned out fine; however, once I added my new sound to my old animation. The issue persists.

OOOOO, okay. I see. When exporting in Audacity, I had Mono selected and not Stereo. This was user error. My fault. Thanks!

Glad you figured it out!
