  • Spine won't run, keeps asking for registration

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is where to post this but I guess this isn't a bug from that forum description.

I tried out the Spine Trial and it worked well, enough so that I bought the Spine Essential license. I then uninstalled Spine Trial, downloaded normal Spine, and installed normal Spine.

Now when I run Spine it pops up asking me to enter my registration number. The only active button on the dialogue is "close". So I enter my registration string from the email and hit close. Then nothing happens. I have tried entering the number and leaving it for 30min, in case it's trying to communicate with a server, nothing. I've tried rebooting my laptop several times, nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Spine (regular exe), nothing.

I'm not sure what is going on.

This is a Windows 10 laptop. It seems like a DRM issue since Spine Trial was starting and running fine.

Thanks

I think some people in the forum have confirmed that some aggressive antivirus programs like Bitdefender do break the Spine install and prevent it from running properly? I'm not sure if that's what you're seeing right now.

I don't have anything like that. Just default Windows Defender.

Thanks though. 🙂

Ok. Well, I've linked @Nate to this post anyway.

Could you type this in your File Explorer location bar:
%UserProfile%/Spine/

And see if that folder exists.
And if it does, could you check if there's a spine log file? Does it say anything?

There is only a Close button until you enter enough characters, then an OK button will appear. You must not be entering all of your activation code. It's easiest to copy (select, ctrl+c) and then paste into Spine (ctrl+v).
