Sub-animations within animations?
Not sure if anyone's suggested this yet, but it would be really great if there were a way to mark off subclips or sub-animations on an animation's timeline.
A lot of the animations I'm working on now have a sort of three-stage structure to them (say, making a gesture, a loop of holding the gesture, then returning to an idle pose). Currently, I just copy keyframes and separate these into three separate animations. This works well enough, but it makes it hard to change the animation later. If I could set in and out points within an animation to save portions as their own animations, I'd have a lot more flexibility to edit these animations later.
Just a thought!
Hmm. You're right. This is a great idea.
I've noticed many sprite animations in PlayStation one generation games have this in-loop-out structure. They really just went all out with transitions and things when the console and tools finally allowed them to.
Nice idea. It will be even better if the in-loop-out thing can be combined with event timeline, i.e. talking so the mouth sub animation plays, done talking exiting the loop, blinking eyes, etc.

Yes, this is a great feature and will allow for complex blended animations like in 3D software.
Would like to see this!
Great feature! ^_^
