  • Spine not opening on Window 10

Hi all,
I am posting on behalf of someone that I work with. They are unable to open Spine on Windows 10 64bit.

The program was installed and seemed to have been working ok for a short while. He went to open the program the other day and nothing would launch. Tried running as administrator, and still nothing. Uninstalled and re-installed, same issue. He even tried downloading just the trial version and that will not open either. I uninstalled a bunch of Windows updates for him to see if that could have broken the program, and still nothing.

Has anyone experienced any similar issues? Were you able to resolve the issue? Any known issues with Windows 10?

Sorry for the troubles. This sounds like another app interfering with Spine, as Spine works perfectly fine on a vanilla Windows 10 installation. Could you provide us with the following info?

  1. Is an anti-virus app running? If so, could you temporarily disable it, and see if Spine starts (you may need to re-install Spine without the anti-virus enabled, so it doesn't quarantine or delete anything).
  2. Could you send use the Spine log? You can find it at <user home folder>\Spine\spine.log
  3. If there's no log file, could you try running Spine.exe from the command line and post the console output here?

So this is going to sound hilarious but I just did some more troubleshooting and It appears Spine was launching off screen. Even with no external monitors, it appears Windows may think there is another monitor connected and it is launching Spine but off screen. So it seems to be a resolution/display issue. I was able to figure it out because I tried to open task manager and it to wouldn't launch. I pressed Alt+Tab to see where the window was and of course Spine was there as well.
